Feed-in-premium
European Union Electricity Market Glossary

Feed-in-premium is a type of price-based policy instrument whereby eligible renewable energy generators are paid a premium price, which is a payment in addition to the wholesale price.

This premium can be fixed of floating; a floating premium would be calculated as the difference between an average wholesale price and a previously defined guaranteed price.

Other three main types of renewable energy sources support schemes in place in the European Union are: 

- Feed-in Tariff (FIT),

- Green certificates (GC), and

- Investment grants.
