The term 'generation unit' in the European Union Internal Electricity Market stands for a single electricity generator belonging to a production unit (see Article 2(17) of Regulation on submission and publication of data in electricity markets).

The same definition is applied in Article 2(71) of the Regulation (EU) 2019/943 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 5 June 2019 on the internal market for electricity (recast).

It is noteworthy, the definition refers to the "electricity generator" and not the boiler.
